Rocketeer could end up being a very special band. Having listened to all of their tracks on My Space and a few more on You Tube I'm pretty sure they're never going to be satisfied sticking to a genre or two (or several). They seem determined on giving each idea the room to grow and reach its full potential. By taking this approach at outset I'm certain they'll never be boxed into an expected sound and that leaves lots of space for development.
It's not for me to guess how The Cowardly Soldier's Lament came into existence. There is an almost latin feel to the chorus, a folk verse, poignant lyrics, you could almost believe this song was born in the peninsular war. Whatever the first idea was it has been built upon to create an illusion of time and place with faultless feel. The result is a beautiful track and I'm really looking forward to hearing what they come up with next.
