The sound of 22:22 could well be defined as new wave, that fuzzy intermediate step in music that punk rock took as its energy and rock'n'roll authenticity were fused to great song-writing, exemplified by the early work of Elvis Costello, Squeeze and The Boomtown Rats.
Ice Black Birds perform 22:22 with tremendous zeal, the vocals are forceful, the bass line is catchy enough to carry the intro, the squelchy guitar solo is bang on the mark and the drumming is amazing as it catalyses each change in the songs feel.
Every so often rock needs to look back to its roots and redefine them for the modern era. In the words of The Clash an ice age is coming.
